Murrisk Community Water Connection

NRS is proud to have delivered the Murrisk CWC project, bringing safe, sustainable drinking water to 600 homes across Murrisk, Lecanvey, and Killsallagh, Co. Mayo.

As an accredited Uisce Éireann contractor, we led the largest scheme ever completed under the Rural Water Programme, ensuring full compliance with 2023 EU Drinking Water Regulations.

Key Highlights:

  • 15 km HDPE trunk main along the R335 main Westport to Louisburgh Road
  • 6.5 km Horizontal Directional Drilling  (HDD) under sensitive areas
  • 8.5 km of open-trench excavation
  • 148 individual house connections, linking local homes to the new compliant water supply network.
  • 21 river and stream crossings
  • 2 bridge crossings requiring detailed design
  • Traffic management on R355

Jointly funded by Mayo County Council, Uisce Éireann and local households, this project secures reliable water for generations.
