Lidl Ballybough Development Completed
NRS is pleased to announce the successful delivery of the Lidl Ballybough development, a significant urban redevelopment project that has transformed a former car showroom site into a modern, flagship retail destination.
The project involved the full demolition of the existing Annesley Motors facility and the construction of a three-storey building with a total gross floor area of approximately 3,531m² carefully designed to maximise a constrained city-centre footprint.
At ground level, the development incorporates two retail units alongside undercroft parking for 29 vehicles, 16 external parking spaces, a dedicated loading bay, bin store, ESB substation and associated plant and ancillary areas.
The first floor accommodates the main Lidl store, accessed via escalators, stairs, and two lifts. The store provides a net sales area of 1,145m² and includes an off-licence as well as office, warehouse and food preparation facilities. A third-floor level has been designed to provide high-quality staff amenities.
Sustainability was a key focus throughout the project. The roof level features a green roof, photovoltaic panels and mechanical plant areas, contributing to the building’s environmental performance. The scheme also includes a comprehensive SUDS (Sustainable Urban Drainage System) strategy along with hard and soft landscaping works to surrounding public footpaths, the rear car park and boundary treatments.
This development represents a strong example of delivering high-quality retail infrastructure within a compact urban site, while integrating sustainable design principles and efficient use of space.
NRS would like to thank the full project team and supply chain for their contribution to the successful completion of this project:
